There’s a new name for Nissan in Southampton – and there will soon be a wonderful new home for the brand too.
The city’s Nissan dealership in The Causeway is now being run by Hendy Group, one of the UK’s best-known and most well-respected dealership networks.
For the time being, the thriving business will continue to operate from its current premises, but plans are under way to relocate it to a brand new, state-of-the-art showroom.
The new building, being constructed thanks to a significant investment from Hendy Group, will be a few miles away to the north-east, in the convenient location of Eastleigh and away from Southampton’s busy city centre.
The cars in the Nissan range will be displayed in modern and spacious surroundings and as well as a sales operation, full servicing, repair and aftersales facilities will be available.
Paul Hendy, chief executive of Hendy Group, described the acquisition of the Southampton Nissan dealership as a significant milestone and a positive step for the company and our working relationship with Nissan.
The new Eastleigh dealership will be located near other Hendy sites representing manufacturers such as Ford, Honda, Mazda, Kia, Renault, Dacia, and Lotus.
Hendy’s decision to build on its relationship with Nissan seems perfectly timed. The manufacturer has enjoyed success in the sales charts recently and its trophy cabinet contains a number of prestigious awards won over the past 12 months.
The new Nissan Qashqai was the UK’s best-selling new car in July 2022 and shortly after its launch last year, picked up double honours at The Motor Awards 2021, organised by News UK. Qashqai received the overall ‘Sun Car of the Year’ award and was named ‘Small SUV/Crossover of the Year’.
Newly available this year is Nissan’s stunning all-electric crossover ARIYA, which has taken the automotive world by storm. Starting at £43,845 and with up to 329 miles of range, it won the Auto Express ‘Car of the Year’ award recently.
With a heritage spanning over 160 years, Hendy Group is proud to represent 21 automotive brands across the South Coast. Its Eastleigh Nissan dealership will be its third outlet for the Japanese manufacturer, joining sister sites in Bournemouth and Salisbury.
Paul Hendy added: ‘‘We’re delighted to be adding to our Nissan representation and we’re very excited about the new home we’re creating for the brand.
‘‘We’ll be able to reveal more details about that as work progresses – and in the meantime, we’ll be delighted to welcome customers old and new to our existing and long-established showroom in The Causeway, Southampton, where a warm Hendy welcome is guaranteed.’’
